I bought it brand new (as I did all of my BWs), but sold it without too many miles on it.
That's basically the impression I had of the bike from the first moment I rode it. This was my least favorite BW for the same reasons motorcycle magazine tests would pick on the Honda XR-250 and XR-250R from around 1979 to 1982: It had big bike weight and mass with small bike power. Sold it to a nice lady in still-excellent condition. I rode the heck out of mine over the course of a few years. Power was very torquey-feeling with not much top end power, but for the speeds you were meant to see on this little bike, it was a very good powerband. The bike was small and easy to toss around and the tires didn't hamper the way the handling felt (with an adult on board, at least). I owned one of each Yamaha BW model over the years, and here's my opinion on them:Įngine and basic chassis similar the the PW-80 (AKA Y-Zinger), but with ATV-type tires.įun little bike for screwing around in the back yard any time of year.
